At the meeting, attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, and the three service chiefs, Modi granted the Indian armed forces complete operational freedom to respond at a time and manner of their choosing.
Modi said it was India’s national resolve to “deal a crushing blow to terrorism” and vowed to bring the attackers and their supporters to justice. The meeting lasted 90 minutes and followed Rajnath Singh’s earlier discussion with the Prime Minister on the same issue.
Officials confirmed that India is preparing a firm counter-response to the Pahalgam terror attack, with security agencies on high alert.
