Benefiting more than 6,300 government-funded universities and research institutions, the initiative supports approximately 1.8 crore students, faculty, and researchers in fields such as STEM, Medicine, and Social Sciences.

The ONOS Initiative will be administered by INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network), an autonomous inter-university center. With a budget allocation of ₹6,000 crore from 2025 to 2027, the ONOS Initiative ensures sustainable funding to cover subscription costs for participating institutions. An additional ₹150 crore per year is earmarked to support researchers in publishing papers in prestigious Open Access journals, further boosting India’s academic footprint.
Rollout Plan for the One Nation One Subscription Initiative
Launching on January 1, 2025, the ONOS Initiative will roll out in phases. Phase I will offer access to 13,000+ journals, benefiting 1.8 crore users. Provisions for paying Article Processing Charges (APCs) will further encourage Indian scholars to publish globally, raising India’s research profile.
