Jammu on Alert: India’s Air Defence Response to Pakistan Neutralizes Aerial Intrusion

New Delhi: In a swift counteraction, India’s air defence response to Pakistan was activated Thursday evening following a surprise assault involving loitering munitions targeting key areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Jammu city airport. The aerial intrusion comes amid India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor, a focused campaign against Pakistan-backed terrorism.

Sirens echoed across multiple districts as defence units engaged and intercepted the incoming aerial threats. Jammu, which was among the primary targets, experienced a city-wide blackout during the operation.

Adding to the urgency, a similar blackout was enforced in Punjab’s Amritsar region as a security precaution in light of the firing from across the border in J&K.

In the aftermath of the attack, the Union government suspended internet services across Jammu and Kashmir to prevent misinformation and facilitate secure military communications. Authorities have also directed 100% pre-boarding security checks at all airports nationwide, heightening alert levels across civil aviation hubs.

The unfolding events reflect the increasing frequency and scale of provocations along the western front. Thursday’s assault, neutralized by India’s air defence response to Pakistan, marks a fresh spike in tensions as Operation Sindoor continues to dismantle cross-border terror networks.
