Eyewitness accounts suggest the fire began around 4:00 PM in the Dighambar Ani Akhara section, reportedly during food preparation. As the flames spread rapidly, three gas cylinders stored in the tent exploded, exacerbating the situation. The fire engulfed neighboring tents, leaving 20-25 completely charred.

The site witnessed chaotic scenes as attendees rushed to safety while courageous locals like Devendra Tripathi and Hariram Tripathi attempted to mitigate the disaster. According to Devendra, “We noticed smoke rising from a tent and rushed to help. We managed to throw out some cylinders, but three of them exploded.”
