The skies over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands transformed into a stage of high-speed aerobatics as the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the Indian Air Force delivered a jaw-dropping performance over Marina Park, facing Ross Island. The electrifying display took place on Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of locals and tourists eager to witness the aerial spectacle.

Leading the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team, Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, alongside Deputy Leader Group Captain Sidhesh Kartik, orchestrated a breathtaking performance of precision and skill, leaving spectators in awe.

Aerial Acrobatics at Its Finest
Flying their iconic red-and-white Hawk Mk-132 jets, the skilled pilots executed gravity-defying loops, thrilling barrel rolls, seamless inverted flying, and their signature DNA manoeuvre, demonstrating masterful coordination. The aircraft flew in dangerously close formation, maintaining a jaw-dropping five-metre separation—showcasing the elite precision of the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team.

A spokesperson from the Andaman and Nicobar Command called the event “a stunning display of aviation brilliance that highlights the excellence of the Indian Air Force.”

Inspiring the Next Generation of Aviators
Beyond the adrenaline-fueled performance, the air show aimed to motivate young minds and spark interest in aviation. “Our Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is rightly called the ‘Ambassadors of the IAF’—today’s performance was a tribute to India’s aerial prowess and aimed at inspiring the youth to take pride in the Air Force,” said a senior spokesperson.

The spectacle is set to continue on Thursday, offering another opportunity for the public to witness these aerial maestros in action.
A Global Phenomenon in the Sky
SKAT has captivated audiences worldwide, recently showcasing their breathtaking skills in Bangkok, Thailand, for the 88th anniversary celebrations of the Royal Thai Air Force. Their precision and aerial artistry have earned them international acclaim, further solidifying India’s reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the aerobatic world.
